This philosophy was indirectly responsible for the conception of The Simpsonsin the first place. When he first signed with Fox, they wanted him to adapt his Life in Hell series instead of creating a new one.

For as simple as his appearance is, there lies one aspect to it few fans notice - his hair and ear work in tandem to form a hidden signature. The episode title is a reference to the 1990 film Edward Scissorhands directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp in the title role. During the episode, Homer tells Marge to just call him "Homer Fingerhands". Many scenes are parallels to the movie; for example the first time Homer cuts hair for money is a reference to the scene where Edward carves the ice angel with Maggie dancing as Kim does in the film.

This is not only one of the best episodes of Season 10, but one of the greatest Treehouse of Horror's of all time. It delivers some great jokes, some that are mostly absent from the rest of this season. When Homer is worried about his baldness making him ugly to Marge, she sings to him "You Are So Beautiful". At an executive board meeting, Homer comes up with a way to increase worker productivity. After this, workplace safety improves and accidents decrease, which Smithers observes is because of Homer being the cause of prior accidents. Homer spends his paycheck on home improvements and plans to give the kids what they always wanted, and when Marge is concerned he should save for a rainy day, Homer dismisses it that the good times are here to stay. If Homer had been more sensitive to that fact, he might still have a full head of hair.

With the score tied and bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, Burns pinch hits Homer for Strawberry, noting that fielding a right-handed hitter against a left-handed pitcher will serve to their advantage. It’s only natural to think, if you were so concerned with positive depictions of gay characters, why the super-evil Smithers? Well, Smithers hadn’t sorted out his personal stuff yet, and we hadn’t sorted out our thoughts on Smithers yet. At this point he just feared being replaced as Mr. Burns’ golden boy — the most terrifying thing that could ever happen to him and something he’d go to any lengths to prevent. "Homer at the Bat" underwent a lengthy production, as the guest stars were recorded over several months in accordance with their availability. Most of the players were accommodating except for Canseco, who demanded that his part be rewritten. Meanwhile, Milhouse has a life-changing experience after watching Finding Nemo from the beginning. However, he discovers that listening to the inane chatter upsets him. He tries to quit the business, but some people demands Homer to stay. Complaining to Moe and the other barflies, Homer understands that he cannot even look at the men in the bar without seeing everything that the women dislike about them. That’s probably why I’ve been asked so many times why Karl puts up with Homer’s boorish behavior. I don’t think he finds Homer attractive; I think Karl can do way better than Homer.
